I believe he's referring to the volume level where speaker outputs clip vs. the preouts. On most head units the speakers clip earlier - I have no idea why manufacturers do that. dave ----------

Some of the combinations cause the speaker output to go to 0 - we have several pro-grade meters connected to the speaker outputs of the factory amp module (where the gas pedal is) to detect any output. Some values cause the volume buttons to stop working.

I've never owned a Headunit that didn't clip the signal at max volume. Using an o scope or dd-1 to verify how far your Headunit go go before it clips will find that.
